My favourite styles from the RSFF

It doesn't have the same glam factor as, say, Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, but that's not to say that a fashion festival is without its merits. Right now, the Sydney Fashion Festival of 2010 (which also happens to be sponsored by Rosemount) is in full swing, with plenty of our favourite local designers showing off their most wearable pieces for the upcoming summer.
Slim silhouettes, luxe fabrics, and plenty of draping were among the key styles, with bold colours and classic nude tones used in equal measure. The sixties-inspired bouffant hair that has been gracing catwalks everywhere this year was also hard to ignore... but as for whether it will hit the mainstream anytime soon, well, that remains to be seen!
The beauty of the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival is that it truly brings fashion "to the people" - unlike RAFW, which is attended only by those working in the fashion industry, the catwalk shows of the fashion festival are open to anyone who wants to buy a ticket. The clothes themselves tend to be high on wearability, rather than being just an expression of the designer's creative vision.
As for the dress I can most see myself in? It's this one by Akira: slimline and simple, with a gorgeous birds-and-palm-fronds motif. Those ankle boots are rather lovely too.
