Stop making that duckface!

Now what, I hear you ask, is a duckface? It's that awful, overly-posed facial expression that has suddenly become all too popular among teenagers taking self portraits for their myspace and facebook pages. Twisting your lips into a half pout, half duckbill may give you some fabulous cheekbones, but be warned: there is also a very high probability of you looking like a complete idiot. Some guys from LA even set up a website dedicated to the mockery of the duckface movement: check it out here (the comments are hilarious!)
Celebs like Miley, who already have model-esque cheekbones, might be able to get away with pulling a duckface on occasion but just about everyone else looks utterly ridiculous! The fact that it requires a mirror to perfect this strange expression probably contributes to its try-hard factor. It's not sexy, it's not original and it's not something you'll want to be reminded of when you go back to look at old photos of yourself.
So next time someone breaks out the camera and you're tempted to twist your lips into a silly half pout, stop.... and smile instead. Or even (God forbid!) just try to look natural, because anything is better than the dreaded duckface.
