Sales time!

Online sales, that is - good lord, how I love technology! If you're feeling apprehensive about the idea of elbowing your way through the hoards of post-Christmas bargain hunters (or, like me, have simply done it one too many times already) then your best bet is staying right where you are and snapping up your sales items from home. No parking hassles, no picked-over garments, no silly impulse purchases... hell, no need to change out of your pyjamas if you don't want to!
Depending on which country you live in and what your budget constraints are, you'll find any number of mailing lists for online stores that will alert you to when their sales begin (often, it's a minute after midnight on December 26th). It's best to have these sorted out before Christmas so that you can be prepared for them when the time rolls around, as all the best bargains in the most popular sizes will naturally be snapped up first.
Label junkies living in Australia will find that the Missy Confidential mailing list is likely to be their best bet. There's a ton of online sales happening there right now, with decent savings on a variety of designer labels. Check out their website at www.missyconfidential.com.au
Or, if you're an Aussie with a somewhat tighter clothing budget (like mine is right now, as I have a baby on the way!) you'll find that the online sales at websites like Birdsnest are the way to go. With more than 120 suppliers together in the one location, you can shop by brand, body shape, colour, personality type, occasion or by the specific kind of garment you're looking for.
Birdsnest is my current favourite simply because the brands they sell (Esprit, Sass, Seafolly, Ladakh, Metalicus and the like) make good quality, on-trend clothing without the crazy price tag that you often come across when buying from a designer. Your purchases are usually dispatched by Express Post on the same day that you buy them, they willingly accept returns, and they have some worthy frequent-buyer incentives too. Check out their site at www.birdsnest.com.au
Making the most of online sales is all about doing your research beforehand, knowing what it is you're looking for, and getting in there quick-smart before everyone else does. Enjoy the rest of your holidays, my dear readers, and here's to a fabulous new year!
My favourite post-Christmas purchase so far: a classic shirt by Living Doll for $29.95 (down from $49.95) from birdsnest.com.au
