What is it about some celebrities wearing the most hideous clothes they can find? We can only assume that get-ups like singer Katy Perry's here are a cry for attention.

It's Matrix meets 80s throwback meets Hello Kitty, and it looks utterly absurd. And is that a bum bag? Oh God, it is...

Oh, for the days when stars were elegant and refined, like Audrey Hepburn. Now it's all about making a statement, regardless of how tacky and ill-conceived that statement may be. As long as there are wannabe celebs, there will be heinous fashion crimes like these.

You're right, thats tragic. Its weird, cos someone has actually TRIED, like matching the lipstick to the top would have been a feat and a half. But the top itself looks like it was put together out of the contents of someone's garbage.

Gotta give her credit for those pants. She's way braver than me, and how the hell did she get into them? Or are they the famous cello wrap?

They look like they've been spray painted on, don't they? They'd probably rip if she tried to sit down. I agree with you, leather pants are not for the shy.

You'd think they'd make the most of a walk down the red carpet. How often does a female get to wear really elegant stuff?

Even if you spotted this oufit in a club you would think it was pretty tarty.

i was watching some TV show not too long ago which was showing all these high profile celebs who had latched onto the Hello Kitty brand, like Mariah Carey and i think Rihanna maybe, and they were all trying to outbid each other for these ludicrisly high priced diamond encrusted limited edition pieces of tack

i personally love katy perry's style, but this is too much. she needs to stick with the girly pinup style; it fits her much better.

I agree wholeheartedly, she's going for a look that doesn't suit her style, and yes it's the old-school feminine outfits that work best on her. I guess we have to give her props for trying something new and different though... even when it fails miserably like in this instance!
