High-waisted pants

High waisted pants have been in the magazines as the 'next big thing' for a couple of years now, and I think I understand why they haven't become hugely fashionable in the mainstream yet. Namely, because they make your bum look enormous if you have even the slightest of curves, and if you're short as well they look plain ridiculous.
But if you're blessed with long legs and a petite frame, then this yet-to-fully-emerge trend is one worth considering. Try on a couple of pairs and see what you think. If you look as cute as Ashley Olsen does here, then it's time to whip out the credit card.
We used to have higher waistlines back in the eighties, but ever since then I've looked at photos of myself and thought just how unflattering the high waist is, for myself and for many other girls. I was overjoyed when hipsters returned to the fore! Especially hipster jeans, as the only person I've ever seen pull off high-waisted jeans - aside from Kate Moss, but she pulls off everything - is Scarlett Johansson. She wowed the crowd with her catwalk style a couple of years back, in a pair of ultra-tight, ultra high-waisted jeans.
Jessica Simpson, unfortunately, didn't have the same luck. Her jeans made her look top heavy, and this look only works on those with petite or willowy frames.
Personally, I'll stick to the hipsters.
