Contradiction

I love being a contradiction.
I believe that, in some way or another, just about everybody contradicts themselves. It’s part of what makes us interesting, and human. It’s what makes every person an individual.
And naturally – given that this is a fashion blog that you’re reading – the same concept can be applied to what it is you decide to wear each day. By deliberately mixing certain styles and ideas, you’ll be creating a contrast with your appearance that can speak volumes about the mix of personality traits that make you unique.
By creating a contradiction with your outfit, you’ll be stepping away from that outdated, over-trodden path of how clothes are ‘meant’ to be worn. At the same time, you’ll be creating a fascinating representation of visual irony, because the combination of garments you are wearing will be the opposite of what people would otherwise expect.
A demure frock, worn with slutty heels. A black leather jacket, worn with a lacy slip. A $500 pair of designer jeans, worn with a 50c charity store T-shirt. A nerdy plaid skirt worn with a bubblegum pink halter top. An overtly masculine pair of military boots, worn with a sweet floral dress. A 1940s string of pearls paired with 1980s disco diva attire. Eurotrash fingerless gloves worn with a conservative pencil skirt. The opportunities to create a sense of contradiction are virtually endless: limited only by what you can create in your mind’s eye.
Best of all, your contradictory combo will be entirely yours. Unique, eye-catching, and completely individual. And in doing so, you will have come full circle.
