I'll admit it right now: I didn't watch the Golden Globes. I rarely do. But every year, without fail, I'll click my way through the photos of what the actresses wore... and for the first time ever, I actually feel compelled to write about it. Why? Aside from the fact that I miraculously have the time (with my wonderful husband blessing me with two hours of blissful, baby-free blogging), the reasons are threefold...

What does Lady Gaga look like without makeup? Pretty damn amazing, if this Harper's Bazaar photo shoot is anything to go by! The singer is known for her unusual and often confronting getups (who could forget that dress made of raw meat?) but insists that regardless of what she looks like, she's always the same girl her fans know and love.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of what was arguably the most iconic film of Audrey Hepburn's career, and the one that cemented her status as a style maven: the 1961 hit Breakfast at Tiffany's. Five decades later, women around the globe are still seeking to emulate the classic elegance of Hepburn's wardrobe in this film, and no doubt will continue to do so for many years to come.

Love that dress!

It's the end of an era for Harry Potter actress and global fashion icon Emma Watson, so what better choice of dress for the final film's London premiere than this absolute show-stopper from Oscar de la Renta?

In one of those "I'd assumed that had already happened" moments, I discovered earlier this week that a new lingerie line is to be created by none other than the reigning Queen of Burlesque herself! Dita Von Teese has scored an exciting new gig as head designer of a range of sexy, retro-style ladies underwear, all of which will be available to buy in Australia early next year.

Blake Lively's meteoric rise to Hollywood fame has been eclipsed only by her rising star in the world of fashion. She was recently hand-picked by Chanel's head designer Karl Lagerfeld to front the fashion house's Mademoiselle line of handbags, and as you can see, her debut ad certainly doesn't disappoint!

Miranda Kerr's runway return

March 4th 2011 04:24
Less than two months after giving birth to her (enormous!) baby boy Flynn, Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr has hit the catwalk at Paris Fashion Week. The new mum walked in two shows for Balenciaga, showing off a surprisingly wearable black draped dress with 'pleather' detailing... and a not-so-surprisingly enviable figure.

Weighing in on Kate Middleton's style

November 22nd 2010 03:12
It was only a matter of time until the fashion choices of the future Queen of England came into the spotlight! Just a few hours after the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton was announced, style commentators from all over the globe were voicing their opinions on the sartorial decisions of the latest royal-to-be. While most of us (this writer included) seem to agree that Ms Middleton's style is virtually flawless, others were not so kind, with one self-appointed expert declaring Prince William's fiancee to be suffering from a case of "fashion constipation."

Celebrity Style: Blake Lively

November 9th 2010 05:04
She's a queen bee of the small screen, a rising star in Hollywood, and was recently called 'The Jackie O of her time'. At 23 years of age, actress Blake Lively has also become a Gen Y fashion icon, with a personal style that is at once offbeat, and yet beautifully pulled together. And no, it's not her stylist's fault... because she doesn't even have one!

British actress Carey Mulligan makes a stunning cover girl for the October issue of US Vogue, but admits that the outfit chosen for her didn't quite fit the way she wanted it to! The Chanel couture dress was a sample size sent straight from Paris, which Mulligan said was "very pretty - but wouldn't go over my arse. I'm actually wearing a towel around my waist and the bottom is clipped up because I couldn't fit."

Given that she's just turned seventeen, it may not have been the most appropriate thing to tell the media.... but then, Taylor Momsen isn't exactly known for her propriety! The actress, model and musician recently told Spin magazine that, if she were to describe her fashion sense, it would be akin to that of a "high class" prostitute - but that she still dresses in a way that feels right for her.

Celebrity Style: Carey Mulligan

April 4th 2010 04:26
She first hit the big screen in 2005's Pride and Prejudice but it wasn't until Carey Mulligan appeared in the 2009 film An Education that audiences really began to sit up and take notice. Despite Mulligan thinking she was "completely awful" in the movie, it seems that the Hollywood bigwigs thought otherwise: she received various major award nominations for the role, including that of Best Actress at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. It’s her charming personality that has us most enthralled, however: she’s smart, humble, and determined to be respected for her work above all else.

She may be turning 40 this year but don’t expect supermodel Claudia Schiffer to be retiring from the world of fashion anytime soon. “I really enjoy my work. I’m not going to be happy when it stops!” the svelte German-born blonde told Vogue magazine. While her catwalk days are a thing of the past, Schiffer’s photo shoot opportunities are still flowing in: she’s currently the face of Alberta Ferretti’s new fragrance and last year did campaigns for Salvatore Ferragamo, Yves Saint Laurent and made an appearance in the documentary Valentino. When you consider that most models are history by the time they turn 25, it’s not a bad effort from the girl who was once so shy that she thought that the model scout had chosen her by mistake!

Who's that girl?

February 10th 2010 23:02
It's Stefani Germanotta, of course.... better known as Lady Gaga! Last week when I wrote about how the singer's crazy outfits were becoming passe, I searched far and wide (well, as far and wide as the Internet will allow) to find a classy photograph of her, to no avail. But suddenly, here it is: a highschool yearbook photograph of Miss Germanotta from 2004.
