Blake Lively's stunning debut ad for Chanel

Blake Lively's meteoric rise to Hollywood fame has been eclipsed only by her rising star in the world of fashion. She was recently hand-picked by Chanel's head designer Karl Lagerfeld to front the fashion house's Mademoiselle line of handbags, and as you can see, her debut ad certainly doesn't disappoint!
The 23-year-old star of TV's Gossip Girl, the award-winning 2010 thriller The Town and the upcoming comic book flick Green Lantern has loved fashion since she was a little girl, but, unlike so many of her contemporaries, is content to model the clothes that are provided for her rather than trying her hand at designing them.
"I have such a respect for fashion and such an appreciation for it that if there are people like Karl Lagerfeld out there designing, who am I?" she told WWD earlier this week. "I want to bow down to them and be a representative for them if they'll have me."
They're more than happy to have her, as it turns out. Designer Michael Kors, who has dressed Lively several times over the years, told The New York Times that he considered her to be "the Triple S: sexy, sporty and sophisticated. You can say she’s a California blonde, but she is very sophisticated and that’s a rare combo. It’s Lauren Hutton. It’s Farrah Fawcett. They don’t come along that often."
Lively also revealed to The New York Times that she'd been offered other endorsement projects in the past, but had politely turned them all down in the hopes that her dream fashion role would one day become a reality.
"I had other opportunities and I would say, 'Thank you so much, but I am holding out for Chanel,'" she said. "That’s who I want to be the face of. And people would say, 'Well, that’s unrealistic, they only hire Europeans,' and I said: 'Well, how great. I’ll be the first then.'"
And while Lively's healthy, vibrant blondeness is a far cry from Chanel's usual super-skinny choice of brand ambassador (think Keira Knightley and Kate Moss), there's no denying that she's a perfect representation of the strong, confident and fashion-savvy young woman. "If you say, 'Oh she’s all-American,' I don’t know that she’s all-American," Michael Kors said in her defense. "I think she’s what a lot of stylish women around the world want to look like. You don’t even have to know her to know she has fashion cred."
