Bad gladiators!

When it comes to shoes, there's always people who are going to take a certain trend too far. It seems that if something has been in fashion for a while, then it should be "improved upon" - or as I prefer to call it, "morphed", or possibly "mutated" - so that it appears to be taking the trend to a whole new level. But the fact is, some styles are classic and don't need to be improved upon. Take these gladiator flats for example:
They are just too, too much. Since when did gladiators wear patent red leather sandals that went almost up to their knees? That's right, never. In my humble opinion, the gladiator flat should only be worn in dark leather and no higher than the ankle. Shoes that extend up your calves not only shorten the length of your legs visually, but in the case of the over-the-top gladiator flat, it makes you look like you've broken both feet and are wearing those hideous strap-on casts. Not a good look!
Although there are more and more girls on the streets of Sydney wearing their gladiators up their calves, thankfully most are still choosing to wear the classic variety - that is, ankle length, brown leather and sophisticated. The right pair will look great with just about anything in your summer wardrobe, and the wrong pair will make you look like a fashion victim... so choose your gladiators wisely, and know when to give them away for the next big thing in footwear. I predict three to six months... time will tell.
