Australian Fashion Week is coming!
April 16th 2009 08:46
Sure, it's got nothing on the New York or London fashion weeks, but the Australian Fashion Week is still an excellent opportunity for local designers to show off their 2009 collections - and give the fashion-conscious some idea of what we'll be wearing for the next couple of seasons. Sponsored by Rosemount, AFW is in its 14th year and will be running from the 27th of April to the 1st of May.
There's a smaller lineup of designers this year - mostly due to the tightening of belts (excuse the pun) in these uncertain economic times - but many of our favourites will be there, including Sass & Bide, Zimmermann and Wayne Cooper, as well as some of the most exciting up-and-coming Aussie designers like Willow.
AFW is a media and industry-only event, but the general public has the opportunity to view the collections in late August (see www.rafw.com.au for details). In the meantime, I'll keep you updated with photos from the catwalk as the week progresses, as well as insider predictions on which styles will catch on - and which ones will be relegated to fashion obscurity. Stay tuned!
