Australian Fashion Week 2010: The looks, continued

May 6th 2010 10:33
Nicola Finetti, Zimmermann, Ellery, Alice McCall and many more have showed off their spring/summer collections at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week, with the unique flavours of each designer really coming to the fore. Manning Cartell's stern black-and-whites were in stark contrast to Kate Sylvester's whimsical cuteness; Bec & Bridge went sheer as sheer could be; and Alex Perry made a big impression with his gorgeous, gauzy gowns. Here's another handful of RAFW photos, with more on the way very soon....

Alex Perry 2010
Alex Perry's 'Arabian Princess' show combined the pretty with the powerful

Manning Cartell 2010
Manning Cartell's hard-edged designs were a standout

Alice McCall 2010
Alice McCall embraced the prints (LOVE the model's eye makeup!)

Bec & Bridge
Bec & Bridge's sheer designs contrasted with their textured metallic dresses, and the liberal use of gold makeup

Nicola Finetti 2010
Nicola Finetti recovered from his disappointing 2009 collection with an aesthetic that somehow managed to tick all the boxes: retro, elegant, and futuristic, all at once

Kate Sylvester 2010
Two very sweet looks from Kate Sylvester

Kate Sylvester's style remains as quirky and diverse as ever!

Zimmermann 2010
Zimmermann took their bikini hems to a whole new level

Cutout fashion
The cutouts that appeared last year are still big news, but they're now in less-than-expected places. From left to right: Christopher Esber, Sabatini White, and Therese Rawsthorne

With plenty more still to come, it looks as though my three-part Fashion Week roundup might just have to turn into four. Or maybe five, I haven't decided yet.... next update arriving pronto!

Bec & Bridge's models look sickly and impoverished! Kate Sylvester's is the best!

The Bec & Bridge girls do look like an army of undead... I much prefer it when the girls look alive (even when they are looking bored!)

SDL, there will always be the filtered-down versions appearing in stores in a few months' time, or else just save up for Nicola Finetti's and call it an investment, hehe. There's probably already someone at Dotti, Portmans or Sportsgirl working out how to change his design so very, very slightly so it's not a copy, but extremely similar... those are the people who I rely on for awesome dresses And yep Kate Sylvester's designs ranked highly for me too, they're always so playful and fun.

Thanks for the comments chicas!
